Did Obama and the US Government Try to Bring Osama Bin Ladin in Alive?

It's funny. When you listen to Barack Obama talk about GITMO, the prisoners there have the same rights that you and I do. I don't believe in this philosophy, but I do find it ironic that Osama Bin Ladin wasn't given these same rights that Obama believes Al Qaeda prisoners have. Why is that?

I guess what we need to ask today, as unpopular as it might be looking at the celebrations at Ground Zero, was the order from Obama to kill Osama, or was there an attempt to bring Osama Bin Ladin back to the United States to face trial and then be punished for his crimes against the American people.

If Obama issued the order to assasinate Osama Bin Ladin and not give him the rights he is willing to give Al Qaeda operatives at GITMO for trial, then doesn't that make Obama a hypocrite? As well, there is always the idea that a dead body is easier to sell the the American people, especially when your approval numbers are in the basement, in a Wag the Dog sort of way. Just an observation.

Today, there is a part of me that wishes the Navy Seals captured Bin Ladin, so he could sit in an isolated prison like Hannibal Lecter for the rest of his life, especially to validate this story. Of course, we just have to trust Osama Bin Ladin's is floating at sea. I seem to recall, during the Clinton years, that even Rush Limbaugh once said that Bin Ladin was a made-up boogy man for Clinton to justify his actions. Anyone else recall that?
