George W. Bush Turns Down Obama Invitation for Ground Zero Appearance

There appears to be a growing divide between Barack Obama and George W. Bush. Obama invited Bush to appear at the 9/11 Ground Zero ceremony to celebrate the death of Osama Bin Laden on Thursday. Bush did not accept the invitation. A spokesman for Bush issued the following e-mail:

“President Bush appreciated the invite, but has chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight,” Bush spokesman David Sherzer told POLITICO in an email Tuesday night. “He continues to celebrate with all Americans this important victory in the war on terror.”

Obama was Bush's biggest critic on the tactics the Bush administration used to help us arrive at this day, including the waterboarding that eventually led to Osama Bin Laden's death. Members of the Obama administration even considered bringing key members of the Bush administration to trial for war crimes.
