Talk Continues in GOP Circles to Place a Two-Year Term Limit on Congressman Billy Long

There is more and more talk from many circles within the Missouri 7 GOP ranks of coming challengers against Billy Long in 2012. Long has been a divisive force in the GOP, despite the claims otherwise. Former Republican candidates gave Long lackluster endorsements showing little faith in his abilities to lead this district.

Word on the street is they want to ensure Long goes to Washington and is term limited after two years in the 2012 primary. The problem Long faces is his handlers which have consumed his money and given him enough to fool voters this time will be more focused on making their name in the 2012 presidential race, they won't be as focused on Long.

As well, Republicans have a steep road to climb. Their path to success is a steeper climb than what it was in 1995. Many don't feel this economy is going to get better in the next two years, and many project we are getting ready to go into another dip. Republicans may not be as excited in 2012 as they are in 2010 if this economy doesn't improve. With this in mind, Long will be an incumbent, and considering the toes he stepped on this year with his own character assassinations used to attack Jack Goodman and Gary Nodler, people may be ready to throw the bum out as Long won't be able to crutch himself up using terms like Fed Up and career politicians to hide his inability to comprehend the issues.

Yes, Long has already become part of the establishment, and this may be his greatest sin once the people wake up from the News-Leader driven stupor and the Tea Party becomes more relevant and possibly a major national party in the next two years as Republican promise more spending and government growth in their Pledge to America. The primary will be Long's worse nightmare in 2012. Get ready, it's going to get ugly for Billy Long, and he won't be able to escape the hard questions anymore.

He will try. He will make the case he was just getting his feet wet. That will be his excuse, but Long sold out to special interest and the establishment long before he got to Washington--long before he was Fed Up. It will cost him in 2012 as this "mean" blogger was proven right.

If you are going to challenge Billy Long in 2012, you better start raising money on November 3. As for Billy Long, I wouldn't go selling that auction business just yet.
