Bozo the Clown is Failing Congressman Billy Long

Congressman Long looked drained and unhealthy at
Experience Works.
At last Saturday's Joplin Tea Party, Congressman Billy Long didn't focus on the founding fathers in his speech. Rather, he told the Tea Party despite John Boehner's pathetic attempt at leadership to cut the $100 billion as promised, the Tea Party should blindly follow Boehner because Boehner is working hard for them. Hard Billy? Last I looked only $39 billion of that $100 billion cut was going to happen.

After Long gave his we must reelect Republicans who don't follow through with their promises speech, Long then shared with the audience that he looks to Bozo the Clown for humility and inspiration.

I’ve got a Bozo on the front of my truck—a lot of people say how come you got Bozo on the dash?—that’s to remind me—and I’ve had it on there for years—that’s to remind me not to take myself too seriously. I’m doing your work in D.C., and I was standing right down there last year with ya and I’ll be back down there in a minute…

Long sure has a funny way of showing constituents that he is capable of laughing at himself. In fact, I think its safe to say Bozo the Clown is failing Congressman Billy Long.

Long has shown no humility when it comes to serving in Congress. His service has been a display of self-promotion that darkens the very idea of public discourse our Founding Fathers encouraged with the First Amendment. When you look at Long's actions since he got to Congress, it's been a long time since Billy Long has laughed at himself. He takes himself way to seriously, and pictures taken yesterday from the Experience Works meeting for seniors shows a Congressman who looks unhealthy like he is not handling the stress of the job or the voices of his critics in a healthy manner. Long's recent speeches on the House floor are accompanied with his obviously of breath wisps amplified by the microphone.

If Bozo the Clown was inspiring humility for Congressman Long, Long would have never turned over the names of bloggers who criticized him to the FBI. Congressman Long would have looked to Bozo and realized discourse in public debate is part of the American way, and with this job Long begged from the voters, well, it comes with its critics.

Humility wasn't on display as Long angrily told a member of the Missouri Press Association he didn't want them at a press conference after the Experience Works. Humility would have encouraged Long to invite the card-carrying member inside in hopes they would engage in a healthy debate that betters the district and our Republic. Like I said, Bozo the Clown is failing Congressman Long.

Humility wouldn't have thrown a group of allied Congressmen under the table with claims they aren't conservative enough like Congressman Long did the Tea Party Caucus, especially when Long's own Washington record isn't exactly constitutionally conservative. Long has co-sponsored bills that produce more government while showing he isn't ready to make serious cuts to the federal budget as he voted to continue federal funding for things like NASCAR teams. Many in the Tea Party Caucus voted with Congressman Long against John Boehner's budget, but that didn't stop Long from attempting to make the case that he doesn't need the Tea Party because he believes he is the only conservative out there these days.

Mr. Long, take Bozo the Clown off your dash. It's embarrassing that a 55 year old man who represents Southwest Missouri in Congress plays with dolls and looks to that Weeble Wobble on your dashboard for inspiration and humility. Grow up sir. You are a representative of the people and for that you should be humbled.
