Sarah Palin Puts Pressure on GOP for Financial Responsibility on the Debt Ceiling

Republican members in the House are probably wishing Sarah Palin would go away. Their compromise with Democrats almost assuredly means they will be passing a new debt ceiling in the next couple of weeks. Palin has spoken on the matter and her words will be ringing in the GOP establishment's ears for some time to come.

Palin told Fox News:

“Hells no. I would not vote to increase that debt ceiling,” she said.

“It turns my stomach to hear this assumption articulated that we have to [raise the debt limit], despite the fact that we are raking in the federal government $6 billion a day,” Palin added. “Take that money and service our debt first and pay down some of that debt. Make sure that we are showing the international financial markets and our lenders that we’re serious about getting our debt and our deficit problems under control.”
