Is Congressman Billy Long Supporting Al Qaeda in Libya?

Shortly after Obama launched his war against Libya, Billy Long issued a statement claiming he was upset that Obama didn't fill Congress in on the details before launching the attack. That said, correspondence from Long's office shows that Long clearly supports the war, which has been labeled a "no-fly" zone for rhetorical convenience.

The United States cannot support regimes which brutally repress their people and lack legitimacy. It is simply unacceptable for dictators to slaughter their own people who desire freedom and opportunity. I condemn the violent actions of the Qaddafi government as they cling to power, and I do support the no-fly zone over Libya.

It is important we that know exactly what kind of conflict we are getting ourselves into, what the scope of the involvement may be, and for what purpose. I am frustrated that President Obama carried out these military actions without properly consulting Congress. We should not enter into armed conflict with another country in such a troubled region without a clear mission.

Obviously Congressman Long is playing both sides of the fence, supporting the fact that America entered into a war against Libya as he clearly states he supports the "no-fly zone." Then he goes on to say that we should not enter into war without a clear mission. Obviously, Long feels the mission is clear enough to support Obama's actions then.

If this is the case, Billy Long is supporting the same terrorists who successfully launched the 9/11 attacks, as it's a well documented fact now the Libyan rebels fighting to bring down Qaddafi have ties to Al Qaeda. If that is who Long is supporting to overthrow the Qaddafi regime, then it's hard to argue otherwise. Long clearly states he supports the rebels in his correspondence.

Jack Hunter, the Southern Avenger, has an excellent video describing the Libyan rebels ties to Al Qaeda as he put John McCain on the spot over the war in Libya. McCain, funded like Congressman Long with campaign donations from the industrial military complex, was in Libya for Easter encouraging the war and support for the rebels with ties to Al Qaeda.

“We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.”
