Obama was born in 1961 before the height of the civil rights movement and political correctness. Birth certificated in the United States in 1961 for blacks often read either negro or black. However, the Obama birth certificate reads African, which is a relatively new adjective that describes a black baby. Critics of the new Obama birth certificate are speaking up.
"In those years ... when they wrote race, they were writing 'Negro' not 'African'," Taitz says. "In those days nobody wrote African as a race, it just wasn't one of the options. It sounds like it would be written today, in the age of political correctness, and not in 1961 when they wrote white or Asian or 'Negro'," says one critic.
