Are Steve Jobs, Apple Computers and its iPad Killing American Jobs?

Jesse Jackson Jr. has returned. If you remember last month, Congressman Jackson went on the house floor claiming it was an American right that all people should have things like iPods, iPads, and laptops. Now he says these things are killing American jobs.



‘A few short weeks ago I came to the House floor after having purchased an iPad and said that I happened to believe, Mr. Speaker, that at some point in time this new device, which is now probably responsible for eliminating thousands of American jobs. Now Borders is closing stores because, why do you need to go to Borders anymore? Why do you need to go to Barnes & Noble? Buy an iPad and download your newspaper, download your book, download your magazine.’

Hey Jesse, we know you didn't get to Congress because you have brains. Laptops, desktops, and other devices like the Tablet PC, Pocket PC, and the Palm Pilot were all capable of doing these things long before Steve Jobs came along with the iPad. Those stores remained open as well.

I guess in Jesse Jackson Jr's world you should shut down a bunch of Apple Stores so Barnes and Noble stays hope, who themselves sell a number of electronic readers like its Nook that downloads books through their own Web site. Why isn't Jesse Jackson Jr. accusing Barnes and Noble of trying to put closed signs on their doors with the technology they sell. Jackson Jr. is just absurd!
