Entitlements Not Freedom and Liberty Make America Great

There is a truth. With every government regulation or new entitlement, entitlement that makes people more depending on government, a little bit of liberty and freedom that our founding fathers establish dies. The more government controls you, whether it be through a welfare check or new law, the less free you are. It's a simple truth really. I am convinced today, Obama cares nothing about liberty and freedom.

Yesterday, at George Washington University, named after the great Revolution general who fought to win these liberties and freedoms, Obama said it's America's entitlements that make it a great country. If I didn't know Barack Obama, I would have hoped he misread the teleprompter, but this is how Obama feels.

“‘There but for the grace of God go I,’ we say to ourselves, and so we contribute to programs like Medicare and Social Security, which guarantee us health care and a measure of basic income after a lifetime of hard work; unemployment insurance, which protects us against unexpected job loss; and Medicaid, which provides care for millions of seniors in nursing homes, poor children, and those with disabilities,” Obama said. “We are a better country because of these commitments. I’ll go further – we would not be a great country without those commitments.”

No Mr. Obama, we are a broke country because of those commitments. We are an enslaved country because of those commitments, and I would go to even argue the entitlement programs established in this country have destroyed the Constitutional idea that we are a Republic, a nation ruled by laws. Obviously, those laws were ignored to created these entitlements.
