Branson Landing Obvious Weakness Exposed: Flooding Hits New Branson Shopping Center

When you live in Southwest Missouri, you realize the politics of Branson, Missouri will be the town's death. We all have watched the carelessness in which theaters were built with the promise of star attractions that fizzled out. We have wateched the beautiful hillsides fall victim to Branson development even as tourism shrinks. Most of us, are scratching our heads knowing the obvious has happened and are asking why?



Like how did the city issue building permits for a major shopping center to be built in the White River flood zone known now as Lake Taneycomo. Table Rock Dam was build for one reason--to control flooding, Even with its existence downstream Lake Taneycomo is often the victim, where is where the new Branson Landing stand, close to its banks on a flood plane. Branson is about getting tourists to come, and they obviously overlook important building safety regulations to do that. One day it might cost the city more than this flood is. Let's hope not though.

While not all businesses on the Landing are closed due to flooding, many of the restaurants are as more rain is in the forecast.
