Garfield Comic Strip Upsets Veterans on Veterans Day

That fat cat Garfield angered some veterans yesterday on Veterans Day. Jim Davis, the author of the comic strip, has apologized claiming it was bad timing to run the strip. Davis said the comic was authored more than a year ago. After the apology was issued, veterans were quick to forgive and forget.

John Raughter, a spokesman for the Indianapolis-based American Legion, looked at the strip and Davis’ statement after the cartoon was brought to his attention by a reporter. He said an apology wasn’t necessary.

“We have no reason to doubt his explanation of what happened,” Raughter said.

Davis has a son who is a Marine who has fought in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Carry on.
