Did Congressman Elect Billy Long Already Forget About Veterans?
No press release, no apparent public statement, nothing on his campaign Web site, no evidence he marched in a parade, not even a Tweet on either Billy Long Twitter accounts (auctnr1 and Billyisfedup). Billy Long who went to college as an immature boy that dropped out within a few short months after starting and never laced up combat boots made no visible public mention of Veterans Day just nine days after he was elected to represent tens of thousands of veterans in Missouri's Seventh District. Even as this country fights two wars, Billy Long was busy scratching his own back to even take the time to notice.
It seems funny now. Leading up to the election, there wasn't a parade Billy Long would don his cowboy hat slapped with Billy Long for Congress stickers and a pair of New Balance sneakers to walk a parade route when he was wanting your vote, yet KOLR's coverage of the Branson Veterans Day Parade has no reference of any participation by Congressman elect Long for their parade now he has gotten the votes. In near irony, they do mention the new Taneycomo bridge, which was funded by earmarks, wasn't completed in time for the parade.
Not even a tweet appears on Congressman elect's Twitter accounts to say thanks Veterans. Yet, Billy Long had no problem rushing to Joplin to get a photo op with some career politicians and a local National Guard unit that was coming home from war back during the campaign.
So what was Congressman elect Long doing for Veterans Day. Well, like I said earlier, he was scratching his own back. Too busy to acknowledge Southwest Missouri veterans, Long launched his reelection campaign and then went to a party so the people who helped buy Long's seat in Congress could send him off to Washington for freshman orientation. The back scratching of the Republican establishment and special interest begins today.
