Geez! Another worthless survey. Did the federal government pay for this? Were stimulus funds used? It doesn't say in the article. However, you know how scientists get research money, so nothing surprises me as science is full of con men all begging for scientific welfare known as federal research money. Anyway, on with the study. (If you want to see an excellent documentary that shows how the federal government and science works hand in hand, check out Ben Stein's Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.)
Researchers have discovered the more your teenager text messages the more likely they are to have sex and do drugs. Now how stupid is this? Seriously? This was worth studying.
This is kind of like the fact that when I was in school, the more you were in the "in crowd" the more opportunities you had to get invited to a party, get drunk, smoke some pot, and have sex with the other "in crowd" members. Seriously, aren't cell phones just an extension now of status in the in crowd? Teenagers are commonly seen with a $600 cell phone like it's candy these days, and of course these iPhones, Androids, and Blackberrys all open up a whole new world of sexual exploration and drug information for any teenager whose parents aren't paying attention.
Why am I even bothering touching on this story? Slow news day. Seriously, the cell phone is nothing more than a status symbol to spoiled teens, and unfortunately teenage sex and drugs are temptations that have happened long before cell phones and will happen long after cell phones.
