Blue Dog Democrats Take Huge Hit Under Pelosi's Leadership in the House: 26 Blue Dogs Lose Seats in Congress

Blue Dog Democrats are fiscally conservative Democrats. On November 1, 2010, there were 54 Blue Dogs in the House of Representin' and as of January, there will only be 28. Of course there is good reason for this. These Blue Dogs sacrificed their fiscally conservative beliefs for a trillion dollar healthcare plan their constituents didn't want, and they did it under the pressure of Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama.

Now Blue Dog Democrats, who were spineless in the healthcare debate, are blaming their woes on Nancy Pelosi. Utah Representative Jim Matheson, co chair of the Blue Dogs, is calling on Nancy Pelosi to step down. He is blaming her for the loss of over 60 seats.

Now wait a minute. How many of you Blue Dogs who lost their seats or are pushing the blame onto Nancy Pelosi received special favors in exchange for your vote. Go ahead and try to push this off on Pelosi, but you Blue Dogs are as much to blame as anyone. Most of you voted for the big government healthcare plan, the stimulus, the omnibus spending package, cap and trade, and so on. Pelosi is an easy target, and while I will not defend her abuse of power, you Blue Dogs' hands are dirtier than you want to admit.
