Nancy Pelosi Doesn't Want to Give Up the Power: Will Seek House Minority Leader Position

It was rumored Nancy Pelosi was above serving anywhere but the Speakers position in the House. Rumors said she would leave Congress rather than live life without the title of Speaker and the big airplane that was appropriated for Madame speaker with the $100,000 plus liquor bill. Apparently, those rumors are dead.

Nancy Pelosi says she wants the House Minority Leader position.

(ABC, Memeo) High-level Democratic sources in the House tell ABC News Pelosi is seriously considering staying in Congress and running for the position of minority leader.

Pelosi is methodically calling every Democratic House member who won on Tuesday, as well as many who lost, sources tell ABC News. In the process, she is weighing her options and gauging her support.

Some of Pelosi's closest allies are encouraging her to stay and to lead the Democratic effort to win back their majority. Those encouraging her are arguing, in part, that she can unify the progressives in the caucus, and more importantly, that nobody in the House can raise money for the next campaign better than Pelosi.

For those who wish she would go away, just remember, her face as the face of the House Democrats isn't a bad thing for winning elections. Just look at Tuesday night for an example. She is a polarizing figure that will continue to divide the Democrats--just like the Blue Dogs exemplified yesterday. Let her have the position. It really is the best way to stigmatize the Democrats with a personality that best describes who they really are.
