Scott Eckersley to Pursue Federal Criminal Charges Against E-Mail With Connections to Congressman-Elect Billy Long
The nastiness of the Missouri 7th Congressional race may not be over yet. There were many covert operations in the Congressional race with what appears to be ties to the Billy Long campaign. From an anonymous Web site designed to spread internet rumors about Republican challenger Gary Nodler to a fraudulent e-mail claiming Scott Eckersley was dropping out of the race, the electronic minds that may be connected to the Long campaign have gone out of their way in hopes of providing Long an advantage.
Eckersley told KOLR last night during a sobering watch party his fight against Billy Long has just begun. He said he had to spend the last three days of the campaign telling voters he was still in the race, making the case the fraudulent e-mail did damage to his campaign.
He's not budging, pointing his finger directly at Billy Long.
"These are pretty serious criminal violations," Eckersley maintains. "As far as the research we've seen on the e-mail, all pointed back at my opponent."

While many will tire of the nastiness, voters should be reminded Billy Long was the first to use negative campaign tactics this election season. And so the Billy Long era in Congress begins--with a federal criminal investigation.
